Tier 2 - UK Work Permit – Skilled Group
UK Tier 2 visas have replaced the Business and Commercial work permit scheme. If you are a skilled worker with a confirmed offer of employment from a British company you could be eligible for a Tier 2 visa. The company offering you the position must hold a sponsor licence in order to be able to issue you with a certificate of sponsorship to enable you to take up employment with them.
The UK skilled worker visa is designed to allow skilled workers to be employed in the UK to fill permanent positions in the local labour market that cannot be filled by individuals who are already in the UK.
There are certain requirements that the position you have been offered must meet in order to qualify for a Tier 2 visa, including:
• Position offered must be at a level of at least NVQ level 3 or above;
• The remuneration or pay offered to the prospective migrant must be appropriate for the job and the local labour market;
• The employer who wishes to employ the prospective migrant worker must have an Employer Sponsorship Licence;
• It must be a position that cannot be filled by an EEA or UK national.
If you are successful in applying for the Tier 2 visa, your UK employer will issue you with a certificate of sponsorship. Once you have received this certificate, you can then apply for entry clearance into the UK from your home country. Entry clearance is not guaranteed, even if a certificate of sponsorship has been issued.
