Tier 1 - Investor Visa

The UK Investor category visa is designed to allow high net worth individuals to make a substantial financial investment in the United Kingdom. The requirement for this visa category is that you have no less than £1 million of your own disposable income in the UK, or you are showing assets to the value of £2 million after taking into account all liabilities.

Alternatively you will have £1 million which has been loaned to you by a financial institution regulated by the Financial Services Authority and disposable in the UK. Aside from this you do not have to show any other requirements.

The initial visa will be granted for three years. To extend permission to stay, you will have to show that you have no less than £1 million under your control in the United Kingdom; have invested at least £750,000 in certain ways; and the investment was done within 3 months of entering the UK. You are not required to work under this visa.

If you spend 5 continuous years in the UK under the Tier 1 (Investor) category, you may be eligible for indefinite leave to remain (settlement) in the United Kingdom.
