New Tier 4 Student visa rules to be introduced
17th February, 2010
As of March 3rd 2010 some new rules will be introduced to Tier 4 student visas and include the following important changes:
- Individuals that are studying in the UK below degree level (excluding Foundation degree study) will only be eligible to work up to 10 hours per week during term time rather than the original 20 hours per week
- Students on courses of less than 6 months in the UK will no longer be able to bring dependants with them
- English Language students will need to have attained roughly GCSE level English Language (B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference) in order to come and study in the UK, although overseas Government sponsored students and ‘crammer course' students studying English before commencing degree level study will be exempt from this. All other international students will be required to have a CEFR B1 equivalent English language requirement imposed on them from summer 2010
