Eight arrested following raids on two Reading restaurants
4th December, 2009
An article published this week in the Reading Chronicle highlighted raids and arrests at two Reading restaurants by immigration officials.
Eight people were arrested following raids and these arrests are part of an ongoing clampdown on illegal working in Berkshire and across the South East in order to reduce the attractiveness of this area for illegal immigrants.
The first target was Frankie and Benny’s in Shepherds Hill where three Brazilian men were arrested, followed by a house in Liverpool Road in Reading’s Newtown where they found two Brazilian women, later that day the Gurkha restaurant in Gun street was raided and three Nepalese men were held.
