Crackdown on illegal immigrants
22nd January, 2009
Wolverhampton.co.uk has reported a string of raids on motorway service stations recently carried out by Border police. Teams of officials have been scouring lorry parks in the West Midlands hoping to detect stowaways.
Simon Excell, deputy regional director for the UKBA has reported the number of illegal immigrants trying to hide in lorries has dropped substantially.
Illegal immigrants would have no reason to travel in the UK if employers stopped employing them. Hopefully UK organisations will think twice about employing illegal immigrants now that they can be fined up to £10,000 per illegal worker, leading to even fewer stowaways being found.
